Roy Englebrecht is owner of Roy Englebrecht Promotions and Roy Englebrecht Events, California's third largest fight promotions company. Oscar De La Hoya purchased Roy Englebrecht Promotions in December of 2001 and Golden Boy Promotions was formed, with Roy serving as COO for the first three years. At the end of 2004 he left GBP and reestablished Roy Englebrecht Promotions and Roy Englebrecht Events as owner and CEO.

Englebrecht formed Roy Englebrecht Events, Inc. in 2006 and it currently owns Fight Promoter University, the Mixed Martials Arts "Fist Series" concept, Sports Entrepreneurship Seminars, and Knockout Night At The Fair shows, its newest concept, Paparazzi University. Fight Promoter University held its inaugural three day session in February of 2006 with 33 students, and this first of its kind fight promotions training experience gained world wide attention. The second and third sessions were held in 2007 attracting future fight promoters from Russia, South Korea, Peru, Canada, and 24 states. Englebrecht was also hired by Fox TV in 2002 to serve as Event Coordinator for their unique Celebrity Boxing Show, which garnered great ratings.

Roy Englebrecht Promotions promotes the highly successful Battle in the Ballroom professional boxing shows at the Irvine Marriott Hotel. This bi-monthly professional boxing show is now in its 23rd consecutive year at the Irvine Marriott, and is the longest running club pro boxing show in the country. 36 current or former world champions have fought at the Marriott, including Shane Mosley and Johnny Tapia. In 2007 he became one of the first boxing promoters to introduce Mixed Martial Arts shows to his Battle In The Ballroom concept, with the inaugural Battle In The Ballroom MMA Style show on April 1st, followed by his SummerFist 2007 and OctoberFist 2007 shows which sold out!

Englebrecht has been involved with minor league sports for the past 20 years, as one of the original owners of the California League Class A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes baseball team, and now as a minority owner of the new NBA D-League team the Anaheim Arsenal. He also had ownership in the Arena Football League's Anaheim Piranhas and the West Coast Hockey League's Reno Rage. For the past 23 years he has owned and operated Sportscaster Camps of America, the leading sports broadcasting training school in America with over 2,250 alumni.

Prior to the formation of Roy Englebrecht Promotions in 1981, Roy spent seven years as Director of Promotions for the Los Angles Lakers, Los Angeles Kings, and all Forum events. While at the Forum, Roy developed The Laker Girls dance team, and coordinated the 1980 Lakers Championship Parade. He currently is on the faculty and advisory board in the Sports Management Masters Degree programs, at the University of San Francisco and Long Beach State.

Roy has been married for 37 years to Nancy, a real estate agent in Newport Beach. They have two children, Allison West, 31, a former college and pro volleyball player who is married to former CISL soccer player Matty West, and a son Drew, 28, a 2004 graduate of Vanguard University. Englebrecht earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from John Brown University and a Master of Education graduate degree from Northeastern Oklahoma State University.
